The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is a rental assistance program funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The program assists low income households with safe, decent and affordable housing at privately owned properties. Rental units must pass an inspection before the monthly housing subsidy can be paid to an owner. With a voucher, the household pays a portion of their adjusted income toward their rent and utilities and New Hampshire Housing pays the remainder directly to the landlord. The estimated waiting time for a voucher is based on the number of people on the waiting list, the availability of vouchers, and an applicant's preference status. For a majority of applicants, this could mean an estimated wait time of 6-8 years before their name reaches the top of the list.

Permanent supportive housing for adults with mental illness and very low income. Fellowship Housing offers a continuum of housing choices and support based upon the individual's needs. The housing offers a foundation upon which the individual can achieve and maintain a level of recovery from psychiatric symptoms in order to live in the community as a citizen, neighbor, friend, worker, etc. Fellowship Housing supplies heat, water and electricity and maintains the buildings. The renter is responsible for obtaining their own food and household supplies, and also pays for telephone and cable TV.

Housing Justice Project (HJP) attorneys and paralegals promote equal access to housing for NHLA clients by working to preserve their housing. In addition the HJP fights housing discrimination by investigating complaints of discrimination. The HJP also helps individuals and families in emergency situations who are either currently without shelter or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. The HJP handles housing cases such as: Section 8 or public housing Mobile home park issues Fair Housing/housing discrimination complaints Housing accessibility issues for persons with mobility disabilities

HUD funded subsidized housing

The Berlin Housing Authority serves the City of Berlin with 285 vouchers and 55 units of public housing. We also manage the St Regis House a 42 unit multifamily.

Harbor Care often prioritizes its housing for veterans and individuals and families living with disabilities, including behavioral health disorders such as mental illness or substance abuse disorders, physical disabilities, or those living with chronic illness such as HIV/ AIDS. Our housing comes in a variety of forms - from shared houses to apartment complexes to "vouchers" that allow a client to choose their own home within the community. In all cases, rent remains affordable, with clients paying a portion of their income towards rent. Our housing often comes bundled together with services such as case management, to help clients find employment, obtain entitlements and benefits for them and their families, and avoid returning to homelessness. Programs include: --Permanent Supportive Housing Program, for chronically homeless individuals through federal subsidies (non-voucher). --Mainstream Voucher Program, for chronically homeless individuals through a federal voucher. --Boulder Point, a project-based HUD-VASH (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) voucher program for veterans. --Harbor Homes and Harbor Care also operate other federally-subsidized properties, which helps us offer lower rents to qualified community members. The Claremont Housing Authority (CHA) has one public housing location, which is the 96-unit Marion L. Phillips Apartments located at 243 Broad St., Claremont, NH 03743. CHA also issues 140 vouchers for the Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher program.

SCS Housing, Inc. has a variety of affordable housing units for both families and seniors. The various complexes are located throughout Cheshire and Sullivan counties. Income eligibility limits apply. Our family and senior complexes are located in New Hampshire and are all non-smoking.
