Social Security is a federal program of financial and medical benefits for the elderly, disabled, or surviving spouse and dependent children. It is based upon employer and employee contributions. Social Security provides cash benefits and Medicare insurance to those who have contributed during their employment. Services can vary per Recovery Community Center. All Recovery Community Centers offer Peer Recovery Coaching, Telephone Recovery Support, and mutual aid meetings/recovery support groups. Recovery from substance abuse is often a lifelong process, and it helps to have a community of support. Harbor Care has helped guide the growth of Peer Recovery Support Services throughout New Hampshire’s Recovery Community Organizations. Visit NH Recovery Hub to find services in your area. How They Work: People entering recovery often need to significantly change their lives—from how they have fun to how they maintain recovery. Peer Recovery Support Services offers both the community and services people need to stay healthy. Supports include: Recovery coaching Telephone support services Groups Treatment service navigation and connection Education Recreational and wellness activities (e.g., yoga, art, music, etc.) While Harbor Care does not run these organizations, we continue to help them grow through technical assistance and capacity building, acting as a business incubator and passing through millions of dollars in state funding to the Recovery Community Centers that subcontract with us.

The Kingswood Youth Center offers after school programs, offering teens a safe and fun space to spend time together and engage in many types of activities. Students are transported to and from the Center via GWRSD buses or may be dropped off and picked up by a parent or guardian. A hot meal is provided each afternoon. Programs are free to all KRMS and KRHS students. They also offer Beyond The After School (BTAS!) programs. These additional programs are hosted on weekends, during evening hours, during school vacations, and on holidays. Each year the KYC even hosts a few overnight trips! BTAS! programs have included hiking, beach trips, field days, farm trips, dinner and movie nights, and much more.

Senior Medicare Patrol Program, or SMP: According to the Office of the Inspector General, it is estimated that Medicare is drained of billions of dollars as a result of fraud, waste, errors and abuse. The Senior Medicare Patrol program is dedicated to teaching seniors and other people with Medicare to be aware of the health care fraud, how to protect themselves from becoming victims, and how to detect and report possible fraudulent or billing errors to an SMP Medicare specialist at ServiceLink. Provided by the US Administration for Community Living, there is an SMP program in every state. It is through public education and outreach activities in the local community, as well as confidential counseling, that SMP-Medicare trained staff work with clients to answer and resolve questions, and if appropriate, refers potential fraudulent cases to federal authorities for further investigation
