Numerous support groups and programs are offered by the American Cancer Society. The Reach to Recovery program helps individuals with breast cancer by providing one-on-one peer support. This program matches a breast cancer survivor with a recently diagnosed patient who has similar issues.

Your oncology nurse navigator is your advocate, reinforcing and supporting the physician/patient relationship. Oncology nurse navigators help newly diagnosed cancer patients, current cancer patients and family members. Your oncology nurse navigator will: Facilitate communication between all members of the healthcare team Provide education on disease processes, treatment options and clinical trial availability Help patients make informed decisions about their care Coordinate office visits across medical disciplines to streamline cancer care delivery Serve as a reliable and trusted source with answers to any questions Organize multidisciplinary team conferences to promote collaboration in cancer treatment Provide a personal touch to cancer care by visiting patients at appointments, assessing patients’ needs and relaying relevant information to providers Advocate for patients’ needs and link them with cancer support resources

1. Supplements existing financial resources to pay for non-medical expenses that are not covered by other programs. 2. Examples of possible financial assistance: rent, mortgage, taxes, utilities, groceries, prescriptions not covered by other sources, travel expenses to and from chemotherapy and radiation treatments, child care during times of treatment. 3. Payments made to vendor NOT client. 4. Works with clients to find other resources.

The Cancer Resource Network provides information and resources to patients, families, and caregivers. This service is available 24/7, 365 days a year. The toll free number is answered by trained staff.

In partnership with Cheshire Medical Center, Maps offers a free support group for anyone with cancer or in recovery from cancer. This is a supportive, compassionate group that provides guidance and understanding for those who are dealing with this frightening disease

Cancer Care at Exeter Hospital provides cancer patients and their families with comprehensive in-patient and outpatient services. Accredited by the American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer with commendation, The Center for Cancer Care at Exeter Hospital is the most comprehensive cancer center on the Seacoast. Wellness and nutrition programs offered. Free Tai Chi classes for cancer patients and survivors

This Program helps young adult cancer survivors with educational and employment expenses. Funds are subject to availability.

In collaboration with the American Cancer Society, the Center for Oncology and Hematology hosts the Look Good...Feel Better program. This non-medical program teaches women going through cancer treatment the basics of make-up application and hair techniques to help manage the appearance related to side effects of cancer treatment. A free make-up kit is provided to each individual.

The HOPE Resource Center (i.e., Hope Offered and Provided by Employees of CH) offers programs and services to assist patients with all aspects of their cancer care including answering questions; discussing financial, emotional, spiritual and dietary needs; setting up transportation to/from appointments; and putting them in touch with appropriate resources and support programs in the cancer center and community. Transportation - A social worker helps arrange transportation for patients needing help getting to and from treatment.
