K-Ready Kids (April / May opportunity) - Numerous volunteer opportunities are available in April and May to collect school supplies and help fill and distribute backpacks with new books, a kindergarten readiness calendar, parent resources and school supplies to 1,100 children entering kindergarten in the fall. Penny Smart Kids (Spring / Fall opportunity) - Twice a year, volunteers are trained to read a financially themed book and facilitate a corresponding activity with preschoolers. Day of Caring (annually, September 11th) - Full day opportunity offering teams of volunteers from local companies and organizations the chance to roll up their sleeves and make a difference in the community. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) (annually, January through April) - Volunteers with experience in finance provide free tax preparation services to working families in Rockingham and Strafford Counties.

The United Way Gulf Recovery Fund will provide emergency assistance, such as help with food, rent and utilities, and support long-term recovery efforts to rebuild lives devastated by the disaster by addressing educational, financial and health-related challenges.
