Our Enrichment Program, for adults ages 18 and over, offers a variety of non credit classes focused on education, socialization, and the sharing of common interests. The tutoring program offers adults (ages 18 and older) free one-to-one remote instruction in reading, writing, math, English/ESL, and preparation for the high school equivalency exam (HISET)

Residential education and job training program for at-risk and disadvantaged youth; Job search and placement with employers; Provides dorm living, meals, living allowance, clothing allowance, cash bonuses and readjustment allowance; Medical, dental, and vision care for those involved in the program. In addition to hands-on career training, we offer classes for HISET, English language program, tutoring and academic support, reading and math.

Recruits and Trains Volunteers

Free one-on-one or small group tutorials are available for learners who need basic reading and math instruction. Please note that Keene Community Education offers HiSET testing (not GED testing.)

The Granite YMCA offers a wide variety of programs that are designed to help empower youth to reach their full potential, improve the health and well-being of those in our communities, as well as inspire others to give back. Between all of our enrichments such as swim lessons and youth sports, to our wellness offerings including group exercise and swimming, there really is something for everyone at the Y! Our enrichments run throughout the year as “sessions” that are typically 6-7 weeks long with interim weeks in between. Because of The Granite YMCA, more young people in communities across New Hampshire are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Free tutoring is available for children in grades K – 12 in all subjects. This program offers free tutoring services to all children in the community who need tutoring in a particular subject, or general assistance with schoolwork. Volunteers for this program work with students who need one-on-one help on a particular topic for a short period of time – or for the entire school year. With education being one of United Way’s main areas of focus, Learn United Tutoring serves to fulfill the mission of supporting and promoting education.

Adult High School and HiSET program.

Offers classes to improve math, reading and/or writing skills that may assist with preparation for tests including: HiSET - high school equivalency testing, Accuplacer, ASVAB.

Nashua PAL provides free after school programming at the PAL Youth Safe Haven located at 52 Ash Street. The Center offers homework help, mentoring, various enrichment programs, and recreational activities. Nashua PAL also offers Juvenile Court Diversion along with a host of sports programs for youth, including football, cheerleading, basketball, street hockey, cross country, track and field, and boxing (adult and youth for boxing only).

Adult tutorial program United States citizens exam preparation

Free tutoring and small classes for adults over the age of 18 in reading, writing, math, English as a second language and HiSET/GED preparation. Basic computer and digital literacy are also offered. Location and time of tutoring is arranged to fit the schedules of student and volunteer tutor.

This Federal volunteer program provides a tax-free stipend to fixed income seniors that doesn't affect Social Security Benefits, Housing Subsidies or any local, state or federal assistance. Seniors volunteer helping infants, children or youth in local schools, childcare centers and other youth settings in their own or neighboring towns. The program is built for seniors with its flexibility and individualized service. Volunteers get reimbursed for their mileage to and from the volunteer site, social connections and recognition events during the year. Volunteers can choose the age of children they work with.

Keene Community Education offers apprenticeship programs for plumbing and electrical. A Gas Service Tech certificate program, plumbing license renewals, and a welding course are also available. A training program for LNA (Licensed Nursing Assistant) training is also available.

Tutoring for adult high school diploma and United States citizenship exam preparation.

Our School Age Child Care Programs offer a blend of fun and educational activities, including dedicated homework time, physical fitness, creative arts, thematic programming, STEM experiences, and more.

The Adult Learner Services Program offers free, basic educational services for adult New Hampshire residents who for various reasons can not attend our regular classes but might benefit from one-on-one help. All materials and on-going support are provided.

Learn to Read/ProLiteracy America offers free confidential one-on-one tutoring for adult learners in reading, writing, and lifelong learning.
