FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM | FRIENDS PROGRAM
This Federal volunteer program provides a tax-free stipend to fixed income seniors that doesn't affect Social Security Benefits, Housing Subsidies or any local, state or federal assistance. Seniors volunteer helping infants, children or youth in local schools, childcare centers and other youth settings in their own or neighboring towns. The program is built for seniors with its flexibility and individualized service. Volunteers get reimbursed for their mileage to and from the volunteer site, social connections and recognition events during the year. Volunteers can choose the age of children they work with.

Friend's Program has mentoring programs for at-risk youth, emergency housing for families experiencing homelessness, an intergenerational program that creates meaningful opportunities for seniors to work with children, and a volunteer service program that connects people of faith with elderly people in need of assistance to maintain their independent lifestyle.
