AUTISM CENTER | LAKES REGION COMMUNITY SERVICES

The Autism Center helps children, youth, young adults, and their families. The Center uses Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Parents receive training and strategies they can use in their natural family routines. The Center helps youth and young adults with autism and their families plan for adulthood.

DISEASE/DISABILITY INFORMATION | ASPERGER/AUTISM NETWORK

Provides resources and supports to individuals with Asperger's Syndrome (AS) or Autism and their families and friends. Services include: information and service referrals; support groups for parents; consultation with adults with AS and/or with families of adults; social activity groups for adults with AS; legislative advocacy; seminars, conferences, and workshops; and parenting classes. Free telephone and online support is available.

ASPIRE | SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORT CENTER

Offers a year long recreation program facilitated by staff and volunteers. Activities encourage development of communication and social skills through modeling and practice. Individualized skills and goals are identified and worked on through group play and exploration in the community. Some online options may be available through Zoom. Also offers an in-person summer camp called Camp Aspire. Activities include boating, cooking over a fire, hiking, horseback riding and arts and crafts.

PARENTING KIDS ON THE SPECTRUM | WAYPOINT

A peer-led discussion group for parents with a child on the spectrum. Parents can connect, share insights, exchange resources and explore strategies that support their child’s individuality. Snacks and drinks are provided.
