The Waterville Valley Department of Public Safety is a multi-disciplined department, tasked with all Police, Fire, Emergency Medical, code enforcement, and building inspection functions within the Town of Waterville Valley. The Department of Public Safety is the first true Public Safety Department in the State of New Hampshire. All full-time personnel must be trained as state-certified police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians.

The Portsmouth Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining the city streets, parks, municipal buildings, the water system, and the sanitary sewer collection and treatment system.
