Hospice services are offered to people with life-limiting illness who have chosen to discontinue curative treatment. With a focus is on ‘caring’, not ‘curing,’ people receive services in their home, a nursing home, a hospital or a residential facility. Many of the same services found in a hospital setting can be provided in a patient’s familiar surroundings. Care teams consist of doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and specially-trained volunteer/bereavement coordinators who provide support and assistance at the request of the patient and the family.

The website has safety tips on preventing: backovers, frontovers, trunk entrapment, vehicles set in motion, heat related death from being in a car, injuries and deaths from power windows. The organization offers bereavement support for people whose child has been injured or killed due to a nontraffic incident.

This agency offers a variety of health screenings, programs and support groups like: falls prevention, disease self management, blood pressure screenings, caregiver support groups, and more.

Medical services provided include but not limited to: IV therapy, wound care, medication management, injections, baby wellness visits, pain management, occupational, physical, speech therapies. For those who have experienced the death of someone who was cared for in our hospice program, we offer a 14-month follow-up Bereavement Program. This includes visits and phone contact, frequent mailings and educational material. Several virtual bereavement support groups are facilitated by the spiritual care team and are available to anyone in the community.

Victims, Inc. sponsors GAP, a support group for people needing to share their grief with others who have suffered similar losses. GAP provides a safe arena for people to openly share feelings of pain, anger, despair, helplessness, guilt, etc. Members include parents who have lost children, widows, widowers, adults who have lost parents, relatives, and friends. The death may have been sudden or anticipated. Victims, Inc. Trauma Intervention Volunteers respond to pages from police, fire and emergency medical personnel to scenes, homes and hospitals. They assist victims of serious and fatal crashes, suicides, non-relationship assaults, drownings, missing persons, unattended and untimely deaths.

Receive and place unwanted animals, cruelty investigations, humane education programs, lost and found animals, provides resources on issues pertaining to animals and assistance to members of the public in need of pet food, spay/neuter for cats, temporary pet housing, training. 2. ASPCA offers a Pet Loss Hotline. Pet parents can receive help from the ASPCA Pet Loss Support program with the following issues: *Assistance with the decision to euthanize. *Comfort and support at the time of euthanasia. *Help with grieving the loss. *Advice on dealing with children, the elderly or disabled individuals who are facing a death of a companion animal. *Helping the surviving animals in the household to cope. *Assistance in establishing a relationship with a new pet.

The Hospice House is a home that includes 24-hour skilled nursing care for terminally ill patients and their families. Some of the amenities of the Hospice House include a pull-out sofa bed in each room for family and friends to sleep, a personalized menu, a family kitchen area, and a Multi-Faith Meditation Room. There is also access to a computer for e-mail and Internet, and an outside walking path and garden area.
