The Navy's Family Readiness programs have been afforded the highest visibility, advocacy, and priority. In practical terms, this has resulted in increased services to family members, increased individual assistance and consultation, more varied educational programs, and a more proactive outreach, and delivery of family support services. The Navy Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) is organized into four main functional areas critical to mission success.

Comprehensive Family support programs offer services to strengthen families and build community. Home visiting, parental education, peer support, and counseling are available free of charge. Kinship Navigation services for grandparents or other relative care providers.

Parenting education focus groups, on-going parenting support groups, home visits to pregnant/parenting teens and young women and their families, local resource guides to families in the area, referrals and assistance to families needs and parenting lectures.
