Staff work to inform victims of the status of cases and to help victims find services to assist them in recovering from the effects of being victimized. The Victim-Witness Unit provides help if a victim or witness feels threatened or intimidated by a suspected offender or persons acting for or with the suspected offender.
The New Hampshire Victims’ Assistance Commission helps innocent victims of violent crime with expenses directly related to crime injuries. The costs of the program are paid by motor vehicle and criminal fine assessments and federal Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) grants. The VOCA grant consists of federal fines and penalties paid by defendants. Victims of Federal violent crimes may be eligible for assistance through this program.
