The principal focus of regulating the practice of midwifery is to preserve the rights of women to choose to deliver children at home and assuring quality care. To protect the health, safety and welfare of the people of the State, the Council certifies eligible applicants for certification, investigates complaints and undertakes disciplinary proceedings and disciplinary action. The Office of Professional Licensure and Certification (OPLC) provides administrative support to professional Licensing Boards, Commissions and Councils responsible for licensing and regulating their professions within the State of New Hampshire.
